Troubleshooting
If you are having problems installing or using your remote, here are some things to check:
If the USB infrared receiver is plugged in and the PC is turned on, the red light on top of the receiver should flash whenever it gets an infrared signal from almost any infrared remote. If the light is not flashing, make sure that the receiver is plugged in properly. Also make sure there are fresh (i.e., brand new—just out of the package) batteries in the remote.
When testing the remote, do NOT hold it too close to the receiver. If it is closer than an inch or two from the receiver, it may “overload” the receiver and result in a bad signal.
If the receiver is plugged into a USB hub, try unplugging the hub and plugging the receiver directly into the PC. Not all hubs are designed properly, and a bad hub could cause interference.
If there is an icon in the system tray that looks like this:
the receiver is plugged in and the drivers are properly installed.
If the icon looks like this:
the receiver is not plugged in or the drivers are not installed. If neither of the above icons are present, reboot the PC and reinstall the PC Remote software.
